What this opportunity involves:
The HSSE Business Partner serves as the primary on-the-ground health, safety, and environmental delivery resource for PDS ANZ's project portfolio, operating as an independent assurance layer rather than executing project teams' HSSE work.
An overview of the role:
- You conduct independent site inspections, audits, and compliance verification across assigned projects, providing qualitative field intelligence that complements data-driven reporting.
- Your role is to verify implementation, provide technical guidance, and report findings—not to perform project teams' HSSE responsibilities for them.
This is what we’re looking for:
- Independent Assurance: Regular site inspections and audits covering health, safety, and environmental compliance; tracking corrective actions; feeding findings into JLL systems for reporting; participating in pre-construction risk reviews.
- Project Support: Providing technical HSSE guidance to Project Managers and site teams; supporting escalations and incident investigations; engaging subcontractors on compliance; participating in toolbox talks and mentoring junior staff.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Building collaborative relationships with project teams and clients; supporting HSSE documentation and reporting; acting as a practical partner rather than enforcement officer.
- Continuous Improvement: Identifying trends and systemic issues; contributing to framework development; staying current with legislation and best practices.
Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years' HSE experience in construction/property with demonstrated site-based delivery.
- Tertiary qualification or diploma in WHS; solid knowledge of Australian WHS legislation across jurisdictions.
- Strong interpersonal skills to influence without authority.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Relevant certifications (First Aid, White Card); ISO 45001 knowledge.
- Security clearance eligibility for government work.
