About the Role
Joblin Partners is recruiting a Health & Safety Officer for a major mining operation in the Hunter Valley.
This is a broad operational H&S role covering workplace health, occupational hygiene, risk management, incident investigation, statutory monitoring and general safety support.
The position has a slight weighting towards health and hygiene, while still maintaining broad operational safety responsibilities. It will suit someone who enjoys being visible on site, working with frontline leaders and contributing across a practical H&S function.
The appointment can be structured as either a 12-month fixed-term contract or, for the right candidate, a contractor arrangement through Joblin Partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Health & Hygiene: Support occupational health, hygiene and statutory monitoring.
- Risk Management: Participate in risk assessments, operational reviews and control verification.
- Incident Management: Support investigations, corrective actions and safety improvement initiatives.
- Operational Safety: Provide practical H&S support to frontline leaders and the workforce.
- Systems & Compliance: Assist with reporting, compliance activities and continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work collaboratively across operations and the broader HST function.
About you
- Practical H&S experience in an operational environment.
- Mining experience is advantageous, but not essential.
- Candidates from heavy industry, manufacturing, infrastructure, construction, energy or similar environments will be considered.
- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety, or equivalent relevant qualification or background.
- Comfortable across both health/hygiene and broader safety responsibilities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Collaborative, motivated and team focused.
- Australian permanent residency or citizenship is required.
What’s on offer
- Flexible Engagement: 12-month FTC or contractor arrangement.
- Lifestyle Balance: Monday to Friday, typically around 7:00am-4:00pm, with generally earlier Friday finishes.
- Practical Flexibility: Case-by-case flexibility around family commitments and occasional working from home, but not as a regular weekly arrangement.
- Regional Opportunity: Residential Hunter Valley position within a substantial mining operation.
