Estimator in Brisbane

JJK Painting Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Estimator - Commercial Painting to join our growing team. This is a full-time position based in Sunnybank Hills, QLD. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in our commercial painting division, providing accurate quotations and project assessments that form the foundation of our business operations. Your expertise will directly impact our competitiveness, profitability, and client satisfaction, making this a strategically important position within our organisation.

What you'll be doing:

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial painting projects of varying sizes and complexity.
• Conduct thorough site inspections and assessments to evaluate project scope, surface conditions and material requirements.
• Review architectural and technical drawings to determine project specifications and labour requirements.
• Calculate material quantities, labour costs and overheads to develop competitive quotations.
• Liaise with clients, project managers and site supervisors to clarify project requirements and scope.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of material costs, supplier pricing and industry labour rates.
• Utilise estimating software (such as Bluebeam) and tools to produce professional quotations and documentation.
• Monitor and analyse tender outcomes to continuously improve estimating accuracy.
• Support the sales team in preparing presentations and proposals for prospective clients.
• Maintain organised records of all estimates, quotes and project data for future reference and analysis.

What we're looking for:

• Proven experience as an Estimator within the commercial painting or construction industry, ideally 3+ years in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of commercial painting techniques, materials, coatings and surface preparation methods.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Solid understanding of project costs, labour rates, material pricing and overhead calculations.
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Competence in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities to work effectively with clients and internal teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadline requirements.
• A thorough understanding of workplace health and safety requirements in the construction industry.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites for inspections.
• Relevant qualifications or certifications in construction estimating or commercial painting are advantageous.
