- Task & responsibilities
- Prepare wall and floor surfaces by removing old tiles, grout, cement and adhesive.
- Interpret plans, measuring and marking surfaces and laying out work
- Fill all holes and cracks, and then clean surfaces
- Laying ceramic, rectified porcelain, clay, natural stone tiles on external and internal walls and floors and curved surfaces to provide protective and decorative finishes
- Cutting and installing tiles on floors, walls, and other surfaces.
- Ensuring that the tiles are cut and installed to precise specifications and that they meet quality standards.
- Adhering to safety regulations and industry standards.
- Consulting with clients and other professionals to understand their design and construction needs.
- Measuring and marking surfaces for tile installation, cutting and shaping tiles to fit, mixing and applying adhesives and grout, laying tiles in a variety of patterns, ensuring that the tiles are properly supported and secured.
- Reading and interpreting construction plans and blueprints.
- Regularly inspecting and maintaining tools and equipment.
- Levelling, smoothing and filling any holes and cracks in the surface to be tiled
- Grouting tile joints, leaving them smooth, clean and even
- Mixing, applying and spreading various adhesives types such as, cement based, flexible adhesives, mastics and even 2 part epoxy on certain projects.
- Mitring tiles on corners and angles. Maintenance work such as removing and replacing cracked or damaged tiles
- Qualification & experience
- Minimum 2 years of experiencein tile installation or a related field
- Ability to follow safety procedures and protocols
- Attention to detail and good coordination
- Knowledge of tile laying techniques
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints
- Ability to use tile cutters and other tools of the trade
- Ability to follow specific tiling patterns
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work both autonomously and within a team environment
- Have an ability to work effectively within a team with well-developed communication skills and a commitment to safety
