Reporting to the Section Leader of Tunnel and Ground Engineering (TGE), this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to major Transport, Water, and Power projects while fostering a culture of inclusivity and care.

As an Associate Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in analysing and assessing soil and rock properties to determine their behaviour under various conditions. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing foundations for structures, evaluating slope stability, and providing solutions for complex ground-related challenges. You'll be involved in all stages of projects, from initial site investigations to final design and construction support.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating and leading field investigations
  • Interpreting geotechnical data
  • Performing advanced soil and rock mechanics analyses

You'll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including civil engineers, structural engineers, hydrologists, and environmental specialists, to ensure comprehensive and innovative solutions for our clients. In this position, you'll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, such as highways, bridges, slope assessments, deep excavations, retaining structures, and ground improvement techniques.

Your expertise in geotechnical software and your ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical engineering problems will be highly valued. As a senior member of the team, you'll also play a vital role in mentoring junior staff, sharing your knowledge and experience to nurture the next generation of geotechnical engineers.

At Jacobs, we prioritise our people. You'll be expected to actively engage with and promote our core values, fostering an inclusive and diverse culture across the business. Our Culture of Caring emphasises the health and wellbeing of all team members, and we look to our senior staff to exemplify and champion these principles.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in geotechnical engineering, with experience in a variety of ground conditions and project types. You should have excellent communication skills, the ability to manage complex projects, and a passion for innovative problem-solving.

With safety and flexibility always top of mind, we've gone beyond traditional ways of working so you have the support, means and space to maximise your potential. You'll uncover flexible working arrangements, benefits and opportunities, from well-being benefits to our global giving and volunteering program.
