Your impact: As our team continues to grow, we have an exciting opportunity for an ICT Infrastructure Designer to contribute to the delivery of complex and meaningful projects within the Defence and Federal Government Sectors. This position can be based in our Brisbane or Sydney office.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing ICT infrastructure designs across the full project lifecycle, from the early Master planning through to detailed design documentation for Construction, while also providing technical support throughout construction. Working closely with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary design teams, you will help translate user requirements into practical, implementable solutions that support the successful delivery of integrated facility designs.

You will play a key role in engaging with ICT stakeholders, refining project requirements and collaborating with engineers, architects and other technical specialists to ensure designs are coordinated, fit for purpose and aligned with Defence standards and project objectives. Success in this position will come from your ability to build strong relationships, communicate effectively and contribute to a collaborative team environment where innovation and technical excellence are valued.

We’re interested in hearing from professionals with experience in ICT infrastructure design, particularly those who have worked within Defence environments or have familiarity with Defence ICT systems. Due to the nature of the work, the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is essential.

Here’s what you'll need:

  • Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Information Technology or Telecommunications Engineering qualification or 10+ years relevant telecommunications infrastructure design experience
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably working with clients in Defence, Government, major construction or infrastructure projects as a consultant
  • Confident verbal communicator in client-facing environments, excellent written communication skills and an ability to engage successfully across broad and complex stakeholder groups
  • CAD and/or BIM experience preferred and will be viewed as advantageous.

With safety and flexibility always top of mind, we’ve gone beyond traditional ways of working so you have the support, means and space to maximize your potential. You’ll uncover flexible working arrangements, benefits and opportunities, from well-being benefits to our global giving and volunteering program, to exploring new and inventive ways to help our clients make the world a better place.

We aim to embed inclusion and belonging in everything we do. We know that if we are inclusive, we’re more connected and creative. We accept people for who they are, and we champion the richness of diverse perspectives, lived experiences and backgrounds in the workplace, as a source of learning and innovation.

Cultural Support: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply. Jacobs aims to provide cultural safety at our interviews. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are invited to nominate a cultural representative to participate on the interview panel; please let your recruiter know in your application.

We value collaboration and believe that in-person interactions are crucial for both our culture and client delivery. We empower employees with our hybrid working policy, allowing them to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations enabling them to deliver their best work.

Your application experience is important to us, and we’re keen to adapt to make every interaction even better. If you require further support or reasonable adjustments with regards to the recruitment process, please contact the team via Careers Support.
