The opportunity
One of our clients is hiring two Cloud Engineers into its Cloud Operations team.
These are mid to senior roles which means you don’t need 15 years and a tech lead title, but you do need to be comfortable picking up a problem and running with it.
What the work looks like
The workload is split fairly evenly between AWS and Azure, so you’ll be working across both clouds every week.
- Converting existing environments built through Click Ops into Terraform across AWS and Azure, and extending the existing Terraform codebase.
- Supporting an Azure landing zone uplift: assessing which subscriptions are affected by new security policies, working with teams on exclusions or changes, and rolling those policies out.
- Supporting a centralised AI application platform running on Amazon EKS, which has onboarded over 30 applications in the past six months.
You’ll investigate issues and support requests as usage grows, working closely with the platform team that builds it.
- Managing and troubleshooting AWS infrastructure, including EC2 instances, networking, IAM and native services.
- Helping set up Dev Ops agents to enable self-service for engineering teams.
- Working through operational tickets across both clouds: account and subscription creation, SSO setup, certificate fixes, investigations and server patching.
- Maintaining Windows Server environments alongside Active Directory and Entra ID.
What you’ll bring
- Solid hands-on experience in both AWS and Azure. You don’t need to be equally deep in each, but you should be comfortable operating and troubleshooting in either.
- Hands-on Terraform experience, and a preference for solving problems in code rather than the console.
- Working knowledge of containers: what running something in Docker actually means, plus familiarity with orchestration such as EKS or ECS.
- Python or similar scripting for automation.
- Windows Server, Active Directory or Entra ID experience.
- Comfort with ticket-based operational work alongside project and uplift work.
- Real enthusiasm for using AI in your engineering work.
The organisation is relatively open on this for an enterprise, with dedicated AI tooling and budget available, and they want people who’ll actively experiment and share what works.
- A good attitude and willingness to get stuck in.
