Key responsibilities
- Preparing accurate construction estimates for project homes and high-end custom homes.
- Completing detailed quantity take-offs from architectural drawings, engineering, specifications and interior selections.
- Accurately costing bespoke finishes, specialist materials, architectural features and complex construction details.
- Producing comprehensive job budgets, purchase orders and subcontractor work orders.
- Obtaining and assessing supplier and subcontractor quotes, ensuring all scope items are covered.
- Identifying discrepancies, missing information and potential cost risks before construction starts.
- Pricing variations and updating budgets as designs and selections develop.
- Maintaining estimating databases, rates and standard construction allowances.
- Working with site supervisors to resolve purchasing and estimating queries.
- Identifying cost-effective alternatives that maintain the design intent and required quality.
About you
- Proven construction estimating experience with a residential builder.
- A strong background in project homes, together with demonstrated experience accurately estimating high-end custom homes.
- A sound understanding of residential building methods, trade scopes, premium finishes and bespoke construction.
- The ability to interpret detailed architectural drawings, engineering, specifications and schedules.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify scope gaps and assess allowances where documentation is incomplete.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with designers, suppliers, subcontractors and construction teams.
- The ability to manage multiple jobs and meet deadlines.
- A practical, proactive approach to solving problems and improving processes.
