Institch Design & Upholstery is a well-established, family-owned Australian business specialising in high-quality custom furniture and commercial upholstery. From timber frames through to the finished product, we manufacture our furniture locally and take pride in exceptional craftsmanship. Much of our work is bespoke, offering plenty of variety across residential and commercial projects. We are looking for an experienced Upholsterer to join our growing production team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Upholstering custom sofas, chairs and commercial furniture
- Preparing furniture and components for upholstery
- Cutting, fitting and securing upholstery materials
- Operating staple guns and other hand and power tools
- Working from drawings, specifications and reference samples
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail
- Working independently and collaboratively to meet production deadlines
- Following workplace safety and manual-handling procedures
The successful applicant will ideally have:
- Previous upholstery experience or a relevant trade qualification
- Experience upholstering and preparing sofas and other furniture
- Strong staple-gun skills
- Confidence using hand and power tools
- Experience in an industrial, furniture-production or manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of safe manual-handling practices
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in their workmanship
- A reliable, hardworking and positive attitude
- The ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
- The ability to work efficiently in a busy production environment
Full-time, permanent position Monday to Thursday, approximately 8:00 am–4:00 pm. Half-day Fridays. Optional Saturday work may be available. Varied custom residential and commercial projects. Supportive, family-oriented workplace. Opportunities to develop your skills and grow with the company. Pay negotiated according to experience and skill level.
