At Inner Space Psychological Services, we are passionate about providing evidence-based mental health treatment for people in our local community. Our referrals stem from various sources, allowing for a diverse range of presentations and an opportunity to work with various areas of interest where we know we can make the most difference. Our work also involves supporting police, paramedics, firefighters, military personnel and their families for those clinicians with the skills and interest in this area. These are clients who are often high-functioning, psychologically curious, and deeply appreciative of care that is direct, practical, and genuine. Our clients appreciate our down-to-earth approach and the welcoming experience created by our team. We are a small, senior, and close-knit practice with the appreciation of keeping things simple. Established for almost 18 years, we are now looking for like-minded clinicians to join our team.
We welcome applications from Psychologists (general or clinically endorsed), Mental Health Social Workers, and appropriately qualified/accredited Counsellors (ACA/PACFA-registered).
What the Role Looks Like
- Working one-on-one with adults is the core of the work. There is also the opportunity to work with young people if desired.
- Variety of presentations and referral types, based on skill and particular areas of interest.
- Some assessment work is possible if you have the skills and interest in this area, particularly in relation to neurodivergence.
- 3β5 days per week subcontractor position (genuinely flexible β we'll work around the right person).
- Located primarily onsite at our Leumeah rooms as our clients generally prefer to see us in-person. However, some work-from-home hours can be negotiated.
- A steady, well-managed caseload from day one β referrals are consistent and well-matched.
- Full onsite admin support: bookings, billing, and practice management are handled so you can focus on clinical work.
- Collaborative work alongside a small group of experienced clinicians who are equally committed to this client group.
You'll Thrive Here If You Areβ¦
- A qualified Psychologist, Counsellor or Social Worker.
- A fully AHPRA registered psychologist (with or without an area endorsement) OR An accredited mental health social worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) OR A full clinical member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA), OR A level 3 or level 4 member of the Australian Counsellors Association (ACA).
- Experienced and/or knowledgeable about working with trauma or from a trauma-informed perspective.
- Grounded and pragmatic β you can meet the client where they are at, you don't over-pathologise, and you know how to build trust with clients who can be reluctant help-seekers.
- Skilled in trauma-focused therapies β experience with EMDR, trauma-focused CBT, and/or ACT is highly regarded but not essential, depending on your preferred client groups.
- Self-sufficient, easygoing, and straightforward β you manage your caseload well independently but genuinely value being part of a collegial, experienced team.
- Values-aligned β you're here because this work matters to you, not as a stopgap.
What We Offer
- Potential to earn in excess of $150k p/a as an independent contractor depending on hours, experience, qualifications and preferred referral types.
- Flexible days and hours β 3 to 5 days per week, shaped around you.
- Consistent referrals so you're not building a caseload from scratch.
- Full admin support so your time is protected for clinical work.
- A genuinely supportive, non-hierarchical team culture with no KPIs or micromanagement.
- A caseload you'll find professionally stimulating and personally meaningful.
- Access to peer group consultations if desired.
Additional Qualifications: SIRA registered or willing to obtain it.
