Role purpose:
Assist with the practical adoption of Data Governance across the business, extending our implementation and Data Governance Framework. The tech available includes Microsoft Purview, Varonis, Snowflake
The role bridges business and technology: engaging stakeholders to understand their data problems, translating those problems into actionable data initiatives, and demonstrating the value of Data Governance through better ownership, quality, trust and business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Extend Microsoft Purview, Varonis, Snowflake and drive adoption as the enterprise data governance and discovery capabilities.
- Evolve the Data Governance Frameworkdocumentation.
- Engage business stakeholders to uncover data issues and understand the business impact.
- Translate business problems into data outcomes, connecting issues such as inconsistent reporting or poor data quality to practical actions.
- At a high level discuss Data Governance in business language, focusing on better decisions, trusted reporting, efficiency and reduced risk.
What we're looking for:
- Data Engineering / Governance consulting experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Purview.
- Stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills.
- Ability to talk to business users about their problems without leading with technology.
- Ability to turn ambiguous business problems into outcomes.
- Knowledge of concepts around data ownership, stewardship, quality, metadata, lineage and business glossaries. They do not need to be experts
- Comfortable working across business, architecture, data and technology teams.
What success looks like:
Business problems → clearly understood data issues → accountable owners → governed data → measurable business outcomes.
The role should ultimately help make governance an enabler of business outcomes rather than an administrative exercise, supporting trusted data and better decisions.
