Canberra, ACT – 2 days per week – No after-hours

Looking for a part-time equine role that leaves plenty of room for life outside work? We’re looking for an equine veterinarian to join our established ambulatory equine practice for two days per week. We currently provide veterinary services across four days per week and are looking to extend our regular service to five days. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys equine practice but doesn’t want to work full-time. Work two days with us, then use the rest of your week however you like. You might want to pick up another part-time role, do some small animal or emergency work, spend more time with your own horses, be around for family – or enjoy having a few extra days off.

Our practice currently does not offer after-hours services, so there is no after-hours commitment with this role. If after-hours work is something you enjoy, there may be the opportunity to take this on separately for additional remuneration. The role involves the usual mix of everyday equine practice, including lameness, dentistry, preventative care, routine consultations and the occasional urgent case within business hours. Our caseload includes general riding horses, competition horses and retired companions, with an established client base and many long-term clients. A veterinary nurse attends every appointment, and we have the equipment and support to make the day run smoothly.

What we offer:

  • Two days per week, casual or permanent part-time considered
  • $100,000–$130,000 full-time equivalent salary, depending on experience, paid pro rata
  • No after-hours commitment
  • Optional after-hours work if you want it, with additional remuneration
  • A veterinary nurse at every appointment
  • New practice vehicle and work phone
  • Fully cordless digital radiography
  • Power float and oroscope
  • Support for dental training and CPD
  • A friendly, supportive team
  • An established client base
  • A good work-life balance

We’re looking for an experienced equine veterinarian who is comfortable managing routine appointments independently and enjoys working as part of a team. An interest in equine dentistry is important. Dental experience is a bonus, but we’re happy to support further training and CPD in this area. Two days of equine practice. Plenty of time for everything else. If you’re looking for a straightforward, enjoyable part-time equine role with good support, good equipment and plenty of flexibility, we’d love to hear from you.
