About the role:

Are you a confident communicator with strong organisational skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure? Independent Living Victoria (ILV) is seeking a compassionate and proactive On Call Rostering Officer to support our rostering operations outside standard business hours. This is a casual, work-from-home role that offers flexibility and autonomy. It may suit individuals looking for work that fits around other commitments, such as study, caregiving or other part-time work. You’ll be the first point of contact for staff and clients during on-call hours, helping to ensure our clients continue to receive high-quality care—no matter the time of day.

Key functions of the role will include:

  • Provide full on-call coverage during allocated periods.
  • Allocation of shifts to ensure staff skillsets match individual client support needs.
  • Ensure shifts are filled as requested in a timely manner.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to phone calls regarding client care and staff rostering.
  • Manage last-minute shift cancellations and coordinate replacements efficiently.
  • Use initiative to assess and elevate health-related concerns appropriately.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of calls and actions taken.
  • Work independently and make sound decisions under time pressure.
  • Ensure that any specific requests/procedures are passed on to the support staff, so they understand what is expected from them on each shift booked.
  • Manage and resolve any issues that arise for support workers after hours.

About you:

  • General Administration experience is preferred.
  • Previous Support Worker experience is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Knowledge of the SCHADS Award provisions relating to rostering, shift work, and penalty rates.
  • Confident handling a high volume of phone calls and thinking on your feet.
  • Calm and resourceful in urgent or high-pressure situations.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Comfortable working autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to learn our internal rostering software (training provided).
  • Positive and friendly attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately deal with sensitive information.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work demands.

What we offer:

  • Flexible, casual role that supports work-life balance.
  • Remote, work-from-home arrangement.
  • Supportive training and onboarding.
  • The chance to make a real impact in people’s lives.

Other Requirements:

  • Must hold Valid Australian work rights.
  • National Police Clearance.
  • First Aid and CPR certificate.
