We are looking for a caring, patient and reliable Personal Assistant to support a 12-year-old boy with his daily needs, help build his confidence and encourage him to enjoy new experiences. He enjoys spending time on his tablet, but we would love someone to encourage him to get out and about, whether that’s visiting the park to enjoy the swings, going swimming, exploring water-based activities, visiting farms to see the animals or trying trampolining.
The role will involve supporting him to access the community, feel more comfortable around others and manage anxiety. As he is non-verbal and sensitive to loud noises, his PA will need to be calm, attentive and understanding of his individual needs and ways of communicating. Support with personal care, including continence needs, will be required. He also needs close supervision during meals, with food offered in small amounts to reduce the risk of choking. He has a pacemaker, so awareness of his medical needs and the relevant guidance is essential. A valid first aid qualification is required for this role.
We are looking for someone compassionate, proactive and enthusiastic about helping a young person build confidence, explore new activities and enjoy life. Experience supporting children or individuals with additional needs would be beneficial. If you enjoy making a positive difference and helping a young person experience new opportunities, we would love to hear from you!
