About Us

IAG Defence & National Security (DNS) is part of IAG, a specialist advisory firm supporting complex infrastructure, Defence and national security programs across Australia. Our DNS team works closely with Commonwealth agencies and industry partners to deliver specialist expertise into nationally significant programs. Our success depends on our ability to identify, engage and mobilise highly specialised talent quickly and effectively. IAG is recognised as a Veteran Friendly Employer under the Veteran Employment Program.

Do you have prior ADF experience? We highly value ADF experience and skills, whether as a permanent member or a reservist.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Verification and Validation (V&V) Engineer to support the delivery of a critical Defence acquisition capability in Canberra. Working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment, you'll help make sure complex systems are designed, integrated, tested and accepted in line with Defence requirements.

The focus is verification, validation, integration and Test and Evaluation (T&E) of complex engineered systems across the capability lifecycle, using a structured, evidence-based approach. The role suits candidates with experience on complex engineered systems, not ICT, enterprise software or business system testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and coordinate V&V plans aligned to program objectives, engineering activities and schedules
  • Define verification strategies using inspection, analysis, demonstration and test
  • Support the planning and execution of T&E, including test concepts, procedures, schedules and acceptance criteria
  • Take part in integration, qualification, acceptance and operational testing, including trials and demonstrations
  • Maintain requirements traceability so requirements are allocated, verified, validated and closed
  • Analyse test outcomes to identify deficiencies, non-conformances and risks, and recommend corrective action
  • Prepare verification reports, validation evidence and assurance artefacts to support governance and acceptance
  • Contribute to engineering and program reviews, including design and test readiness reviews
  • Work with engineering, integration and project teams to make systems ready for verification and acceptance

Required

  • 8 to 11 years' experience in verification and validation or test and evaluation on complex engineered systems
  • Degree in engineering, systems engineering, science or a related technical discipline
  • Experience supporting Defence acquisition programs
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles and V&V across the system lifecycle
  • Experience developing and maintaining verification plans, requirements traceability, verification matrices, test procedures and assurance documentation
  • Experience supporting integration, qualification, acceptance, operational testing or trials
  • Familiarity with Defence engineering governance, capability acceptance and T&E frameworks
  • Experience integrating, verifying or testing mission, communications, sensor, mechanical, electrical or integrated systems
