We're building aircraft that fly faster, further, and to space.

Hypersonix is an Australian aerospace engineering and advanced manufacturing company building hydrogen-powered scramjet aircraft.

We work at the bleeding edge of hypersonic technology, delivering aircraft that fly faster, reach further, and open new pathways to space - and we're a small, highly capable team doing work that genuinely matters.

The Opportunity

As an IT Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Hypersonix’ core IT infrastructure.

This includes cloud environments, networking, server infrastructure, and Dev Ops tooling.

You’ll work closely with the Systems Administrator to ensure our environment is secure, reliable, and aligned to business and compliance objectives.

You’ll be comfortable working at pace and to a high quality, ensuring our infrastructure is deployed and maintained using code-driven, repeatable processes.

If you’re an Infrastructure Engineer looking for autonomy to deliver on varied and challenging projects in a scale‑up environment, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Own

Responsibilities include

  • Design, deploy, and maintain cloud and on-premises infrastructure including servers, networking, and storage across Linux and Windows environments.
  • Establish and grow our Infrastructure as Code practice using Terraform, building repeatable, version-controlled deployment patterns from a largely greenfield starting point.
  • Plan and execute infrastructure lifecycle activities including upgrades, migrations, patching, hardening, and decommissioning, aligned to business growth and compliance requirements.
  • Implement and operate monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery to ensure availability, performance, and data resilience.
  • Provide Level 3 / engineering-level support for infrastructure incidents, including root cause analysis and permanent resolution.
  • Implement security controls aligned to NIST 800-171 r2 and DISP requirements, supporting audits and assessments.

Document architectural decisions and operational procedures as you go.

  • Support Dev Ops tooling and CI/CD pipeline infrastructure (Git Lab) to enable engineering workflows.
  • Life at Hypersonix

We're a 70-person company moving fast in one of the most demanding fields in aerospace.

The pace is fast, expectations are high and the environment is constantly evolving.

The people who thrive here are energised by that — not unsettled by it.

To thrive here, you’ll need to embrace change, stay resilient, and bring a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset.

Priorities shift fast — you'll need to adapt just as fast and genuinely enjoy the pace rather than just tolerate it.

You'll be part of a tight‑knit team delivering bleeding‑edge solutions under real deadline pressure, so strong problem‑solving instincts and flexibility aren't nice‑to‑haves — they're how the work gets done.

What You’ll Bring

To hit the ground running in this role, you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer science or related field – or equivalent industry experience.
  • 3-4+ years’ IT experience, with at least 1 year of experience in infrastructure, systems engineering, or Dev Ops roles.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
  • Experience with firewall and network administration.
  • Linux and Windows server administration experience.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Australian Citizen with ability to obtain security clearance.
  • Relevant industry certifications (AWS, networking, or security).
  • Experience in defence, aerospace, or regulated industries.

Ready to Fly Faster?

If you want to do the most technically challenging work of your career — and you're honest with yourself that our environment will enable you to do your best work — we'd love to hear from you.

Benefits include

  • Equity participation
  • Flexible working – we care about output, not hours
  • Real ownership and influence from day one
  • Funded Professional development
  • Confidential Employee Assistance Program

With cutting‑edge products, a bold vision, and global partnerships, our sustainable aerospace technology is set to transform the future of flight. Ready to Fly Faster?
