About The Team:

Tamworth Hospital is seeking a Level 1 Occupational Therapist to join our welcoming and supportive team on a 12-month or 24-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity for a Level 1 occupational therapist to work across a number of acute clinical loads, rotating every 3 months through medical, surgical and inpatient rehabilitation units. You’ll become part of a small, friendly and dedicated Occupational Therapy department that values collaboration, inclusivity and professional support.

About The Role:

The position is one of 4 rotating positions that requires clinical autonomy, including independent triage of referrals, clinical assessment, intervention planning, and comprehensive documentation using the ERIC system and Single Digital Patient Reports (SDPR). The therapist is also required to participate in a periodic weekend roster, approximately every six weeks, providing independent clinical coverage across the entire hospital. Additional responsibilities include support of students and contributing to the development of clinical practice.

As an active member of the multidisciplinary team, the clinician is expected to participate in weekly team meetings and contribute to ongoing professional development. This includes preparing and presenting journal reviews, case presentations, and education sessions to peers, supporting knowledge sharing and evidence-based practice within the service. The Tamworth OT department has the ingrained culture of weekly education sharing and support to attend local and relevant education. Formal one-to-one supervision is mandatory and comprehensive orientation to each clinical area is provided on new orientations.

About You:

  • Seeking a person with team-like attributes of cohesiveness, inclusiveness, willingness to share knowledge and ability to be redirected to other clinical caseloads as directed by manager.
  • A collaborative, inclusive team player who values knowledge sharing and adaptability.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to changing clinical caseloads.
  • Commitment to professional development, evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.

Essential Criteria:

  • Occupational Therapist with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA.

What We Can Offer You:

  • Difficult-to-fill allowance: An additional financial incentive applicable to this position.
  • Professional development: Access to weekly education sessions, knowledge sharing and relevant professional development opportunities.
  • Clinical variety: Opportunities to work across specialist clinical areas and broaden your experience in a regional referral hospital.
  • A supportive team culture: Work alongside experienced clinicians who value collaboration, inclusivity and shared learning.
  • Practical workplace support: Access to a designated workspace, work phone, supplied uniform and laundry allowance.

If you are an enthusiastic early career Occupational Therapist who thrives in a fast-paced collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering person-centred care, we’d love to hear from you! Come and be part of a supportive team where you are provided an opportunity to develop skills in the acute setting.
