Key responsibilities
- Performing scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical and air-system faults
- Inspecting vehicles and trailers for defects and safety issues
- Completing repairs in accordance with manufacturer and regulatory requirements
- Conducting roadworthiness and compliance inspections within your level of authorisation
- Accurately completing service records, job cards and maintenance documentation
- Responding to breakdowns and handling after hours calls on a roster
- Maintaining a safe, clean and organised workshop
- Working closely with workshop, fleet and operational personnel to minimise vehicle downtime
About you
- A recognised trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle or Diesel Mechanic
- Experience servicing and repairing heavy trucks and trailers
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- A sound understanding of heavy-vehicle safety and maintenance requirements
- Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Your own basic trade tools
- A heavy rigid or heavy combination licence, trailer maintenance experience and relevant inspection qualifications will be highly regarded
