Senior Manager, Communications & Engagement in Fairfield

As Senior Manager, Communications & Engagement, you’ll lead Hume’s Communications & Engagement team and play a key role in shaping how we communicate our purpose, priorities and impact. Working closely with the CEO, Chief Customer Officer and Executive team, you’ll provide trusted strategic advice and turn complex organisational priorities into clear, engaging communications that connect with our people, customers, stakeholders and communities.

You’ll lead a broad portfolio spanning strategic communications, executive communications, stakeholder engagement, content and storytelling, events, brand and reputation. You’ll also guide communications through emerging issues and sensitive matters, ensuring Hume responds thoughtfully, consistently and with sound judgement. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll balance strategy with delivery, lead and develop a talented team, and have the opportunity to shape Hume’s voice, reputation and presence across the organisation and wider community.

ABOUT YOU

You’re an experienced communications leader who can move comfortably between strategic thinking, senior-level advice and hands-on delivery. You bring sound judgement, strong writing skills and an ability to make complex information clear, relevant and engaging.

• Strategic communications: 5+ years’ experience in communications, engagement, media, marketing or a related field, with a demonstrated ability to develop and deliver communications strategies, campaigns and plans.
• Executive advice: Confidence providing trusted communications advice to senior executives, with experience developing speeches, presentations, briefings, talking points and correspondence.
• People leadership: A demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop a team, creating clarity, accountability and a positive delivery culture.
• Storytelling and content: A strong editorial eye and the ability to turn organisational, customer and community outcomes into compelling stories that demonstrate impact.
• Stakeholder engagement: Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to lead communications and engagement for diverse, complex or sensitive matters.
• Events and engagement: Experience planning and delivering organisational, customer, community or stakeholder events and engagement activities.
• Judgement and delivery: The ability to manage competing priorities, identify emerging issues and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment, across a range of internal and external channels.
