HR Consultant | Cairns (Full-time)
Looking to grow your career in HR - this could be the role for you.
AI can draft a policy in seconds. It can’t sit across from a distressed employee, bring two colleagues back from the brink, or get a room full of supervisors to change how they lead. That’s the work people need people for, and it’s where HR Dynamics is heading.
We’re a Queensland HR consultancy with teams in Cairns and on the Sunshine Coast, supporting more than 1,200 organisations since 2008. We work at the sharp end of HR. One day you’re guiding a leader through a difficult termination, the next you’re running a workplace investigation, mediating a team conflict, or delivering training on site. It’s practical, fast-moving and real.
What you’ll do
You’ll work alongside our senior consultants and accredited mediators, and directly with clients across:
- Difficult conversations:coaching leaders before, during and after performance, conduct and termination conversations
- Workplace investigations:gathering evidence, interviewing, and writing fair, well-reasoned findings
- Mediation and conflict resolution:helping people and teams move forward
- Training and facilitation:designing and delivering workshops, toolbox talks and leadership sessions, in person and online
- Employee relations:performance management, misconduct, redundancies and terminations, done properly
- Award and Fair Work advice:interpreting Awards, pay rates and entitlements
- HR foundations:audits, contracts, policies and practical tools that actually get used
Our clients range from small family businesses to large organisations, including community-controlled and not-for-profit organisations. No two weeks are the same are the same with us. We move fast and juggle multiple priorities.
About you
You’re past entry-level and ready for more complexity, responsibility and client contact. You don’t need to know everything, but you stay calm when things get tense, think on your feet, know when to ask and are ready for development.
You’ll bring:
- Confidence handling sensitive conversations and employee relations matters
- Working knowledge of the Fair Work Act, the NES and Award interpretation
- Clear, practical writing: letters, reports, policies
- Experience in, or a genuine interest in, investigations, mediation and delivering training
- The ability to juggle shifting priorities and build trust with clients quickly
- Highly regarded: workplace investigation experience, mediation accreditation (or keen to get it), a Cert IV in Training and Assessment, or HR/IR qualifications.
Why HR Dynamics?
- Real, complex work:trusted client matters from day one, not just admin
- Learn from the best:our senior team brings decades of HR, IR and mediation experience
- Grow your specialty:we’ll support you to build your investigation, mediation and facilitation skills
- Hybrid flexibility:a mix of working from home and office days in Cairns, plus client site visits
