Legal Compliance Manager is a unique opportunity to embed compliance frameworks from the ground up during a critical Development Phase, directly supporting senior leadership, the Board, and the Audit and Role Committee.

The Opportunity

You will champion a high-compliance culture across the organization. You will take ownership of maintaining and continuously improving the legislative and operational compliance frameworks, overseeing compliance registers, monitoring activities, and driving escalation mechanisms. In this role, you will work closely with internal stakeholders to embed compliance obligations into day-to-day business processes, offering practical, solutions-focused guidance. You will also oversee breach management investigating issues and implementing remediation while preparing management attestations, compliance reports, and assurance statements for the Audit and Risk Committee, auditors, and regulators. Additionally, you will contribute to the ongoing evolution of compliance tools, training programs, and governance controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, evaluate, and continuously improve the legislative compliance framework, registers, monitoring activities, and escalation mechanisms.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to embed compliance obligations seamlessly into day-to-day business processes and offer practical, solutions-focused guidance.
  • Oversee compliance reviews, investigate issues, coordinate remediation actions, and prepare management attestations and compliance reports for the Audit and Risk Committee.
  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of compliance tools, training programs, and governance controls.

What You Will Bring

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal, risk, or compliance function within a complex, regulated, or public sector environment (infrastructure exposure is highly regarded). Working experience with an Audit and Risk Committee is essential.
  • A demonstrated understanding of statutory context including a knowledge of the PGPA Act, PSPF, Commonwealth Procurement Rules, Privacy Act, National Archives Act, and related policies.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, business, finance, compliance, risk, or governance (compliance certifications such as CCEP or CRCMP are advantageous).
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, high-level attention to detail, sound judgement when handling sensitive matters, and the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment while steering change and delivering results.

We are looking for a strategic thinker and trusted advisor who brings a practical, solutions-oriented approach alongside strong public sector professionalism and integrity.
