Project Controls Manager | Rail Telecommunications | Perth
Contract Opportunity | Hybrid Working
Calling all Project Controls Managers, Project Controls Leads and Senior Project Controls Specialists!
If you've worked on major infrastructure projects and enjoy having visibility across schedules, budgets and project performance, this contract could be a good next move.
You'll support a major rail telecommunications project, working closely with the Project Director to keep delivery on track, identify risks early and provide the information needed to make informed decisions.
It's a hands‑on role covering planning, cost management, forecasting and earned value reporting, with the opportunity to influence how project controls are managed across a complex programme.
What's On Offer
- Major Infrastructure Project – Apply your project controls experience to a significant rail telecommunications programme with multiple technical and delivery interfaces.
- Broad Project Ownership – Work across scheduling, cost control, forecasting, risk and performance reporting rather than focusing on one area.
- Direct Project Director Exposure – Provide analysis and recommendations that support key delivery and commercial decisions.
- Hybrid Flexibility – A mix of office and remote working, depending on project requirements.
- Technical & Commercial Variety – Bring together programme performance, financial data and delivery risks to give a clear picture of project progress.
- Improve Project Controls – Help strengthen reporting processes, tools and systems to improve visibility and decision‑making.
- Cross‑Functional Exposure – Work with project managers, engineering, commercial and delivery teams, with occasional travel as required.
What You'll Be Doing
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets and forecasts, tracking progress, cost performance and potential delivery delays.
- Prepare project performance reporting, including earned value analysis, CPI, SPI, cost variances and risk assessments.
- Work directly with the Project Director and delivery teams to identify issues, recommend corrective actions and improve project controls processes.
What Will Make You Successful
- Strong project controls experience across large, complex infrastructure projects, ideally within telecommunications, rail or technology environments.
- Hands‑on capability in planning, scheduling, cost forecasting, risk management and earned value reporting, with experience using Primavera P6, MS Project, SAP or similar.
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders, interpreting project data and turning it into clear recommendations. Relevant engineering, project management or project controls qualifications are highly regarded.
Why Apply?
If you're an experienced Project Controls Manager who enjoys getting into the detail while influencing broader project decisions, this is worth a conversation.
You'll have exposure to a major rail communications programme, a broad technical and commercial scope, and the opportunity to work closely with the people responsible for delivery.
Perth based candidates are preferred, although other Australian locations may be considered.
