Our client is an irrigation company that has been operating in Canberra for over 40 years and is a leading service provider in irrigation system design and construction. Their scope of work is wide and varied with a key focus on all aspects of the commercial irrigation industry.
The Opportunity
An opportunity exists for a motivated, customer-focused Retail Trade/Warehouse Operator. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting commercial and retail clients with their irrigation needs and ensuring our installation teams have the supplies they need when required. This role comes with long-term job security and the opportunity for in-house advancement and career growth. Working in their Hume offices, you will enjoy free parking, as well as working in a relaxed but professional and hardworking team.
- Permanent position
- Based in the showroom, hours would be Monday - Friday, 7am - 3:30pm (flexibility to work additional hours is key)
The Role
Working in a proudly locally operated, family business, you will work within a team of 15+ staff, working between the retail showroom and the warehouse. Your duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Providing excellent customer service and product knowledge to our commercial and retail customers (walk-in and by phone)
- Processing orders, invoices, payment and general stock control
- Picking orders for commercial customers and our installation/service teams
- Arranging for transportation of products to site
- Acceptance and management of incoming & outgoing stock
- Assistance with stocktakes and general housekeeping
The Ideal Person
You will be friendly and highly customer service centric with an enthusiastic and can-do attitude, as well as a willingness to learn. Being a quick learner and taking initiative are key to your success. In this small team, everyone needs to contribute, bring a strong work ethic and work towards a shared goal of delivering an outstanding customer experience. You’ll possess the following skills/attributes:
- Previous irrigation, plumbing or similar experience would be an advantage
- Previous customer service, retail or trade counter experience is preferred
- Friendly, confident and engaging personality
- Ability to communicate and problem solve
- Punctual and reliable with a good work ethic
- Physically fit
- Ability to work within a team environment & autonomously
- Computer skills
- Forklift licence would be an advantage
- Simpro Software knowledge and experience also an advantage
