Work Type: Full Time | Permanent Opportunity

Lead the strategy, reliability and lifecycle performance of generation assets powering remote communities across Western Australia. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a diverse generation portfolio supporting remote communities across WA. You will lead the asset management approach for 117 power stations, spanning diesel generation, solar PV, battery energy storage systems and associated balance-of-plant equipment. Your focus will be on keeping assets safe, reliable and performing at their best, while shaping the long-term plans that guide maintenance, upgrades and replacement decisions.

At Horizon Power, we’re more than an energy provider. We deliver energy solutions for regional and remote communities across WA. Based in Bentley, you’ll work across technical, operational and commercial teams, with occasional travel to regional locations to stay connected to the assets, contractors and communities your decisions support.

The impact you’ll make:

  • Own and continually improve the Generation Asset Management Plan, setting the strategy for safe, reliable and cost-effective performance across the portfolio.
  • Lead lifecycle planning and the Asset Management Program, identifying maintenance, upgrade and replacement priorities and delivering approved works within budget.
  • Develop practical maintenance regimes, service requirements and reliability initiatives that extend asset life and reduce outages.
  • Provide asset-owner oversight and quality assurance for major maintenance, replacements, commissioning and handover, while monitoring contractor performance.
  • Lead performance reporting, reliability studies and incident or failure investigations, working closely with engineering, Remote Operations and Regional Service Providers.

What will set you apart:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification, supported by significant relevant experience in generation assets.
  • Deep asset management experience, ideally gained across power stations, mining generation or a comparable operational asset environment.
  • Hands-on knowledge of diesel generation and renewable technologies, with the ability to connect strategic asset planning to practical field outcomes.
  • Strong capability in reliability, fault and failure investigation, maintenance strategy, risk analysis and whole-of-life asset decision-making.
  • A people-focused, solution-minded leadership style, with the confidence to work through incomplete information, competing priorities and the practical constraints of remote locations.
  • Commercial and contract management capability, strong stakeholder skills, a current WA C or C-A class driver’s licence, and flexibility to travel across regional WA as required.

Why this role matters:

In remote environments, access, asset information and standard maintenance options are not always straightforward. You’ll bring sound judgement and practical thinking to balance safety, reliability, cost and operational realities, helping keep critical generation assets online while building a stronger, more consistent asset management foundation for the future.
