Claims Specialist | Property or Motor | Melbourne's East | Salary DOE

About the Organisation

Our client is an established Victorian insurance brokerage with a strong focus on client service and technical knowledge. Its in-house claims team of about 10 manages claims for the brokerage's clients.

About the Role

We're recruiting a Claims Specialist to manage a portfolio of property or motor claims, depending on your background.

This is a brokerage claims role, not an insurer claims role. There is no settlement authority. You advocate for the client with insurers to reach the right outcome.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of claims from lodgement to finalisation
  • Advocating for clients with insurers, assessors, builders and repairers
  • Interpreting policy wordings and explaining claim decisions to clients
  • Keeping clients and account managers informed at each stage
  • Handling disputes and complaints, and escalating where needed
  • Meeting the team's service standards and KPIs

About You

You'll have property or motor claims experience, from a brokerage, insurer, assessor or TPA. Candidates from an underwriting background will also be considered.

Ideally you'll bring:

  • End to end claims experience in property or motor
  • Confidence interpreting policy wordings
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • A car and driver's licence (the office is in a business park)

What's on Offer

  • Salary is dependent on experience
  • Car parking provided
  • Full time in the office during the 6 month probation, then 3 days in the office and 2 from home
  • A claims team of about 10

As part of our compliance process, we will provide you with a privacy statement and candidate registration form to complete.

Hooker & Heijden and our clients' interview process includes telephone, video and in-person interviews. Testing may also be part of the interview process.

Please note, as part of securing your new position it may be a requirement of employment that you undertake background checks including but not limited to police, bankruptcy, banned register and qualification checks.
