Accountant – Business Services | Brisbane
HOBAN Recruitment is seeking an Accountant – Business Services to join an established team within a leading global professional services firm based in Brisbane.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Accountant with 1–3 years of Australian public practice experience looking to develop their technical expertise, gain broader client exposure and progress their career within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Our client is a globally recognised professional services organisation providing specialist accounting, taxation and business advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients, including emerging businesses, growing corporate groups and high-net-worth individuals and families.
About the Role
Working alongside experienced Accountants, Managers and Partners, you will support the delivery of accounting, taxation, compliance and business advisory services across a diverse client portfolio.
You'll gain exposure to the full client lifecycle, strengthen your technical capabilities and develop client relationships while benefiting from ongoing mentoring and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.
- Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) and management reports.
- Maintain accurate working papers, reconciliations and supporting financial documentation.
- Support tax compliance, tax planning and business advisory engagements.
- Liaise directly with clients to resolve accounting and taxation queries and build strong relationships.
- Collaborate with senior team members on complex client engagements, reporting and advisory requirements.
- Develop an understanding of clients' businesses, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of accounting services while identifying opportunities to support their financial objectives.
About You
We're seeking an enthusiastic accounting professional looking to develop their experience and take the next step in their public practice career.
To be successful, you will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years of experience within an Australian public practice or Business Services accounting environment.
- Currently studying towards, or intending to commence, your CA or CPA qualification.
- Experience preparing financial statements, income tax returns and tax compliance documentation.
- A sound understanding of Australian taxation and accounting requirements.
- Experience using Xero, QuickBooks or similar cloud-based accounting software.
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
