Be inspired every day - let your work make a difference. More than one million Australians trust us with their money, and that trust shapes how we work every day. Our members sit at the centre of everything we do, guiding our decisions and the impact we strive to make.

We're looking for people who are purpose-driven and accountable, who value inclusion and collaboration, and who are proactive in managing risk to protect our members' long-term outcomes. In return, you'll be part of an organisation where your work contributes to strong returns, real-world impact, and a culture that reflects the communities our members serve.

The opportunity - Initial 6 month maximum term contract (with potential extension). Your work here will matter from your first week. HESTA's tax experts hold deep knowledge in their heads, and you will turn it into clear processes and documentation with a ranked list of automation wins. Delivery teams will build from what you write, and the Tax Transformation program will rest on it. You will use your skills in data strategy, AI-enabled ways of working and governance in a regulated environment.

About the role:

  • You will sit with tax specialists and learn how the work really gets done, including the workarounds and exceptions.
  • You will then shape that into clear documentation, practical requirements and a prioritised view of where automation will deliver the most value.
  • You will report to the Senior Manager Investment Tax Governance and work with technology, data and risk colleagues.
  • Run interviews and workshops with busy tax experts to document end-to-end processes, controls and handoffs.
  • Set the documentation standard for templates, naming and levels of detail, and coach the team on how to use it.
  • Build an automation opportunity register that sorts work into what to automate, what to remove and what needs genuine human judgement.
  • Write requirements that delivery teams can build from and build small automations yourself with AI assistance.

About you:

  • You bring at least five years of business analysis experience, including two or more years in a regulated financial services environment.
  • You are an expert in process documentation and use AI tools with confidence.
  • You have worked on data projects and understand how data flows through an organisation.
  • You understand what AI can and cannot do, and you can plan where it fits into a data process.
  • You can read SQL and a data model, and you know your way around the Atlassian suite.
  • Prior experience in superannuation, tax or fund services, work on CPS 230 process and dependency mapping, and a formal business analysis certification would all strengthen your application.

Benefits that matter and make a difference for our employees:

  • Leave for those moments that matter, an additional 6 days of leave at the end of year, up to 6 days paid volunteer leave, gender neutral paid parental leave of 20 weeks, reproductive health and wellbeing leave, Cultural and Ceremonial leave.
  • Access your LSL after 3 years, take AL at half pay, and purchase up to 2 weeks additional leave.
  • Your Professional development matters, up to $5k per year professional development and up to 8 days professional development leave, HESTA scholarships and free access to a range of premium learning tools.
  • Your health and wellbeing matters, free annual flu shots and skin checks, incredible social events throughout the year and a comprehensive employee assistance program available 24/7.
  • Your financial wellbeing matters, 15% super, financial planning support, end of year payment for all Enterprise Agreement-covered employees, incentivised Employee Referral Program and novated lease options.

We celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, identities, cultures and abilities.
