Successful applicants will play an important role in the surveillance and treatment of fire ants throughout Southern Queensland.
The role involves working outdoors across a variety of locations and terrain, with a strong focus on accurate surveillance, treatment, data collection and reporting.
Key responsibilities
- Drive up to one hour from the depot to access various site locations
- Conduct visual surveillance for fire ants
- Undertake fire ant bait treatment
- Walk approximately 10–15 km per day across challenging terrain
- Collect and accurately record information using a tablet
- Complete daily reporting, data collection and record keeping
- Work collaboratively as part of a field-based team
- Represent the program professionally when interacting with landholders and members of the public
About you To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An Australian open car licence
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong communication and attention to detail
- Customer service experience is desirable
- The physical fitness to walk long distances across challenging terrain
- A willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- The ability to pass drug and alcohol testing
- The ability to complete and pass a Police Check
- A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to an important community program
