Finance Manager | Contract Role | Gold Coast

Ready to lead a reporting team and make month end faster, sharper and smarter? This one’s for you.

Our client is a well-regarded Gold Coast business with a multi-entity group structure and it’s entering an exciting period of growth and change. They’re looking for an experienced Finance Manager to lead their financial reporting team on a contract basis.

This isn’t a “maintain the status quo” role. You’ll own month end, management reporting and statutory reporting across the group. Your main job is to move the team towards a faster close and smarter, judgement-based reporting. If you know when to estimate and accrue, and when a detail actually matters, you’ll thrive here.

You’ll lead a small, capable team, coaching them through complex work and helping them grow.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading the month-end close across the group, with a clear goal of shortening the timetable
  • Preparing monthly management accounts and the annual statutory financial statements, including note disclosures
  • Being the primary contact for the external audit and preparing key papers on technical matters
  • Working through complex accounting areas such as asset capitalisation, asset valuations and hedge accounting, alongside Treasury and external advisors
  • Overseeing tax compliance, including income tax and FBT
  • Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and making sure issues are resolved, not just reported
  • Driving process improvement and automation

What’s in it for you

  • Genuine ownership of the reporting function, with leadership support behind you
  • A role where your ideas on process and efficiency will be actioned
  • A capable team you can develop and lead
  • Variety and technical depth across a multi-entity group

What you’ll bring

  • CA or CPA qualification, with a degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business.
  • Strong statutory reporting and technical accounting skills
  • Solid commercial experience and the judgement to balance precision with paceExperience leading, mentoring or reviewing the work of others
  • A track record of improving processes and driving change
  • Confidence working with auditors, advisors and senior stakeholders
