Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Cook to join our team at GYG Burpengary. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced kitchen professional to take ownership of food quality, support kitchen operations and help develop a high‑performing team.
As a Senior Cook, you will play a key leadership role in ensuring we consistently deliver exceptional food while maintaining high standards of food safety, efficiency and inventory management.
What you'll be doing
- Food Quality: Lead by example, ensuring consistent food quality, preparation standards, portion control and food safety.
- Training & Development: Train, coach and support kitchen team members to build capability and maintain high standards.
- Inventory Management: Oversee stock counts, stock rotation, waste management and inventory accuracy.
- Ordering & Stock Control: Manage daily ordering, stock levels, supplier deliveries and order guides to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
- Product Quality Management (PQM): Take ownership of food quality initiatives, stock variances, COGS performance, preparation planning and successful new product launches.
- Kitchen Leadership: Work closely with restaurant management to improve kitchen efficiency, consistency and overall performance.

What we're looking for
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, ideally in a senior or supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of food safety, food quality and kitchen operations.
- Experience with inventory management, ordering and stock control.
- Ability to train, motivate and develop other team members.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- A genuine passion for food and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
