We are looking for an experienced Epoxy Laminator / Composites Technician to join our manufacturing team. This is an opportunity for a practical, hands-on tradesperson with experience working with epoxy resins and composite materials. Ideally, you will have a background in boat building, marine craft construction or a similar composites manufacturing environment. You will be involved in manufacturing high-quality composite components using structural foam cores, epoxy adhesives and vacuum-bagging techniques. The role requires someone who understands the importance of accurate measurements, correct material preparation, reliable processes and attention to detail. We are looking for someone who can work independently, take ownership of their work and contribute positively to a small manufacturing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, measure and cut high-density structural foam core materials.
  • Mix and apply epoxy resins and structural adhesives in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Bond and laminate foam-core components.
  • Prepare assemblies for vacuum bagging and carry out vacuum-bagging operations.
  • Monitor bonding and curing processes to ensure consistent results.
  • Operate workshop machinery and equipment, including panel saws, table saws, bandsaws, drills and other relevant power tools.
  • Measure, trim, sand, finish and assemble composite components to the required specifications.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, measurements and work instructions.
  • Inspect finished components, identify defects and carry out repairs where required.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop.
  • Handle chemicals and composite materials in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the production team to meet quality standards and manufacturing deadlines.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Practical experience working with epoxy resins, adhesives or similar composite materials.
  • Good hands‑on skills and confidence using workshop tools and machinery.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately to measurements.
  • A methodical approach to mixing, bonding, fabrication and quality control.
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and work independently.
  • A reliable work ethic and a strong commitment to workplace safety.

Highly regarded:

  • Experience in boat building, marine craft construction or boat repairs.
  • Experience with vacuum bagging, resin infusion or other composite manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of structural foam cores, sandwich construction and core bonding.
  • Experience with fibreglass, carbon fibre or other reinforcement materials.
  • A relevant trade qualification, such as Certificate III in Marine Craft Construction.
  • Experience reading technical drawings and carrying out precision fabrication.
  • Forklift experience or a current forklift licence.

The Ideal Candidate

You might be a qualified boat builder who has moved into composite manufacturing, an experienced epoxy laminator, or a composites technician with a strong practical background. You take pride in producing quality work, understand that small measurement errors can cause significant problems, and know how to organise your work efficiently. You don't need to be told every step of the job. You can identify problems, think through solutions and take responsibility for the quality of your work. If you have the right practical experience and enjoy working with advanced composite materials, we would like to hear from you.
