Build the platform that helps every child reach their potential. Good to Great Schools Australia (GGSA) partners with schools and school systems to lift performance on the journey from Poor to Fair, Fair to Good, and Good to Great. Our education model gives schools the training, coaching, data monitoring and tools they need to deliver effective instruction to every child.
Our Tech & AI team is building the digital products that support this work, and we're looking for a Cloud Administrator Solution Architect to design the solution behind them and run the platform underneath.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Tech & AI, you'll make sure every release is reliable, scalable and cost-effective. You'll work closely with our Full Stack Developer, MLOps Engineer, Database Administrator / Data & AI Engineer and Security Engineer in a small, collaborative team where your decisions shape the platform directly.
What you'll do
- Design and maintain the end-to-end solution architecture, define non-functional requirements (availability, scalability, disaster recovery) and record Architecture Decision Records.
- Provision and manage Azure infrastructure as code with Terraform.
- Run and scale Kubernetes clusters and Docker deployments.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions across dev, staging and production.
- Own the release and versioning strategy, lead go-live cutovers and define rollback plans.
- Run observability with Prometheus and Grafana and maintain incident response runbooks.
- Track and forecast cloud spend using Azure Cost Management and maintain the platform cost model.
What you'll bring
- 5+ years' experience in cloud infrastructure or DevOps, including 2+ years in an architecture role.
- Strong hands-on skills in Azure, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker and GitHub Actions.
- Experience running Prometheus and Grafana in production.
- Scripting skills in Bash and Python.
- A track record designing for availability, scalability and disaster recovery.
- A tertiary qualification in IT, computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong communication, planning and problem-solving skills, and the flexibility to thrive in a small but growing organisation.
It would be great if you also have
- Azure certifications such as AZ-305 or AZ-104.
- Experience running ML workloads and GPU nodes on Kubernetes.
- Experience with Kubecost or similar cost tooling.
Why GGSA?
- Fully remote: work from anywhere in Australia, with no daily commute.
- Flexible hours: structure your work around your life, with an hourly paid contract that rewards the time you put in.
- A unique product space: build digital products at the intersection of education, data and AI, a space few cloud roles get to touch.
- Real ownership: as the architect in a small, growing team, your decisions shape the platform from the ground up.
- Modern tech stack: work hands-on with Azure, Terraform, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions and Prometheus/Grafana.
- Work with purpose: your platform supports schools and teachers in giving every child the chance to reach their full potential.
