Fully Remote Role - Must be Australia or NZ Based
Build the products that help every child reach their potential. Good to Great Schools Australia (GGSA) partners with schools and school systems to lift performance on the journey from Poor to Fair, Fair to Good, and Good to Great. Our education model gives schools the training, coaching, data monitoring and tools they need to deliver effective instruction to every child.
Our Tech & AI team is building the digital products that support this work, and we're looking for a Full Stack Developer to build and maintain them across web, mobile, backend and AI.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Tech & AI, you'll deliver reliable, well-tested code across the whole product, from the front end to the Python AI microservice that connects the product to its models. You'll work closely with our UX/UI Developer, Cloud Administrator / Solution Architect, MLOps Engineer and Test Manager in a small, collaborative team where your work ships directly to users.
What you'll do
- Build front-end features in Next.js (React) and mobile apps in React Native / Expo
- Build backend services, authentication and the CMS with Payload on Node.js
- Build and maintain the Python AI microservice with FastAPI
- Own and document the API contract (OpenAPI) and keep onboarding and developer setup documentation current
- Implement internationalisation (i18n) across web and mobile
- Manage dependencies and licences with GitHub Dependabot and Snyk
- Write unit and integration tests with Jest and Pytest
What you'll bring
- 4+ years' experience as a full stack developer
- Strong TypeScript, React, Next.js and Node.js skills
- Experience with Python and FastAPI
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and automated testing
- A tertiary qualification in software engineering, computer science, IT or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Strong communication, planning and problem-solving skills, and the flexibility to thrive in a small but growing organisation
It would be great if you also have
- Experience with React Native / Expo and Payload CMS
- Experience building LLM features or working with LangGraph
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
Why GGSA?
- Fully remote: work from anywhere in Australia, with no daily commute
- Flexible hours: structure your work around your life, with an hourly paid contract that rewards the time you put in
- A unique product space: build digital products at the intersection of education, data and AI, a space few developer roles get to touch
- Real ownership: in a small, growing team, your code and decisions shape the product from the ground up
- Modern tech stack: work hands-on with Next.js, React Native, Node.js, Payload, Python/FastAPI and LLM tooling
- Work with purpose: your work supports schools and teachers in giving every child the chance to reach their full potential
