Senior Legal Counsel - Infrastructure and Technology

We are partnering with a large, global organisation seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its commercial legal team on a permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer who enjoys working closely with senior stakeholders, structuring complex transactions and providing pragmatic legal advice that enables business outcomes.

The successful candidate will support a broad range of strategic commercial arrangements, including significant infrastructure, connectivity and technology-related transactions.

Working as a trusted legal adviser to the business, you will:

  • Lead the legal aspects of complex commercial transactions, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating high-value agreements.
  • Advise on strategic infrastructure projects, including fibre networks, subsea cable arrangements and other major commercial partnerships.
  • Develop and structure commercial and contractual frameworks that appropriately balance legal risk with business objectives.
  • Provide practical, solutions-focused advice on contractual obligations, commercial risks and transaction structures.
  • Partner closely with senior business leaders, commercial teams and external stakeholders to facilitate successful deal outcomes.
  • Manage multiple complex transactions simultaneously, prioritising effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Identify commercial and legal risks and develop innovative, pragmatic solutions to support business growth.

We are looking for a confident, commercially astute lawyer who brings:

  • Strong experience in commercial law, ideally gained within a large corporate, telecommunications, technology or infrastructure environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in structuring, drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
  • Experience with telecommunications infrastructure, fibre networks or subsea cable transactions will be highly regarded but is not essential.
  • A strong commercial mindset with the ability to assess risk pragmatically rather than adopting an overly conservative legal approach.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and multiple complex deals.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with a genuine can-do attitude.
  • Australian legal qualifications and eligibility to practise.
