Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates are strongly encouraged to apply for roles within the Department. The Department recognises that the provision of safe, respectful and inclusive workplaces is essential to high performance and promotes flexible work and diversity across all schools and Department workplaces. It is our policy to provide reasonable adjustments for staff with disability. Additional support and advice on the recruitment process is available to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates from the Koorie Outcomes Division (KOD).

Location Profile Oxley Primary School is a small rural school located in north-east Victoria, near the regional town of Wangaratta. The school is surrounded by vineyards, farms, bushland, and open countryside, with the nearby King River contributing to the local natural environment. This setting creates a peaceful and close-knit community atmosphere, where students often come from farming families and strong local connections are evident. The school itself is characterised by its small size and structure, with four multi-age classes that support collaborative learning across year levels, and three Education Support Officers who assist students within the classrooms to provide additional guidance and support. The school is also home to the MARC (Mobile Area Resource Centre), where the program coordinator operates from the school and travels in a small van filled with library resources to support other smaller schools across the region. This enables more individualised attention and strong relationships between students and teachers while also extending educational resources beyond the school community. Its rural location provides rich opportunities for outdoor learning, environmental education, and engagement with nature, including studies of local wildlife, sustainability, and land management.
