Skipton Primary School is situated 50 km south-west of Ballarat on the Glenelg Highway. The school has a long history of providing quality education for the children of the town and surrounding farming communities. In 2026, we have an enrolment of 67 students. Our vision captures what we strive to provide for our students – nurturing and educating each child to be their best self, with a strong sense of community, confidence, kindness and courage.

Our school community is guided by our values of:

  • Curiosity – encouraging questions and exploring the world around us.
  • Confidence – helping each other believe in ourselves.
  • Kindness – shown through everyday acts of care and support among students, staff and the community.
  • Courage – standing up for what’s right and giving things a go, even when they feel challenging.

Our workforce consists of 15 staff, including eight teachers, six education support staff and the principal. The school consistently achieves excellent academic results and learning growth. We run a one-to-one computer program with a mix of iPads and PCs. Our specialist programs include Science, Art, Library, Sustainability, Digital Technologies, Physical Education and Auslan. Extra-curricular opportunities are extensive. Students participate in regional swimming, athletics, cross-country, golf and cricket. They enjoy camping programs and interstate trips, along with community initiatives such as the Sovereign Hill costume program, tree planting around the town, and participation in ANZAC and Remembrance Day commemorations. Many of our students enter local photography and art competitions, achieving great success. Every student also takes part in our much-loved end-of-year concert.

Our students, staff, parents and wider community are deeply involved in the life of the school and committed to delivering a high-quality education for the town and district. Colleges in Ballarat and Beaufort highly value our graduates for their strong academic foundation, values and work ethic.
