The Hawkesdale P12 College is a school where high expectations are set and students have real opportunities to learn and grow in a safe, supportive and enjoyable learning environment. Our school values focus on respect, responsibility and resilience – vital life qualities to foster in children and young people as they transition through their primary and secondary learning years towards meaningful adult pathways.

Our school enrolment is currently 145 students, with 50 primary students and 95 secondary students; our current school personnel comprise a Principal, Assistant Principal, Learning Specialists and 35 full and part time teaching and ES staff. The Hawkesdale P12 College is located in a picturesque corner of SW Victoria between the coastline of the Southern Ocean and the ranges of the Gariwerd National Park. Our small township sits in an area surrounded by Koroit, Port Fairy, Woolsthorpe, Macarthur and Penshurst, with dairying, wool growing, beef production and forestry being major local agricultural industries.

Our school features a range of excellent facilities and resources to enhance student learning and wellbeing, including an indoor basketball stadium, synthetic turf sports spaces, a warm and inviting community library, a fully equipped technology wing for art, woodwork, food studies, ceramics and design subjects, and a canteen that is open three times per day for breakfast, break snacks and lunchtime meals.

The Hawkesdale community is enriched by many influences from around the world, and from its connection to First Nations people. Our school is a multicultural setting, with a range of students involved in EAL studies, or who come from a Language Background other than English. Indigenous students make up 10% of the school population, and a school priority is to increasingly engage our First Nations students and the wider school community with a growing awareness of and involvement in indigenous culture and sense of Country.
