Chirnside Park Primary School (CPPS) is a growing school of 420 students. Our high academic results are testament to the fact that we promote a whole school evidence-based approach to teaching and learning with a strong emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy. We have developed a specific Chirnside Park Instructional Model for the way we approach teaching and learning across all grades. Staff at Chirnside Park PS know that Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) has a significant impact on a student's ability to engage with the curriculum and learn effectively. There is an agreed whole school approach to student management and well-being. The cornerstone of our wellbeing program is our commitment to the development of Social and Emotional learning through the Resilience Project and our school-wide commitment to developing our understanding of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness.

The Resilience project is delivered in conjunction with the Departments Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program. A strong sense of community exists and the mutually supportive partnerships between students, parents and staff are a key feature of the school. Our values of Empathy, Excellence and Respect are at the core of our learning, teaching and well-being programs and a strong culture of care and support exists within the school. Chirnside Park PS is located 40km east of the Melbourne CBD in an urban development close to a rural environment and has extensive views of the Yarra Valley and the ranges beyond.
