Commercial Insolvency Lawyer role advising on liquidations, DOCAs and statutory demands.

3 Points:

  • Run end-to-end insolvency & restructuring matters
  • Exposure to litigation, recoveries and director risk advice
  • Supportive, medium-firm feel with high client contact

About the Client:

Our client is a well-regarded multi-office practice with a strong insolvency, restructuring and commercial disputes capability. The team is known for delivering clear, practical advice and maintaining a “medium firm feel” where clients (and staff) are genuinely looked after.

About the Position:

Our client is looking for a Commercial Insolvency Lawyer who enjoys both the technical challenge and the real-world commercial impact of turnaround and distress work. You’ll join our clients' team and take carriage of varied matters across the insolvency lifecycle—often with urgency, strategy, and meaningful client interaction from day one.

You can expect work such as:

  • Pre-insolvency strategy and risk triage for companies and stakeholders
  • Formal appointments and pathways including liquidation, voluntary administration and receivership
  • Deeds of Company Arrangement (DOCA), schemes of arrangement and restructuring options
  • Statutory demand advice, winding up applications and insolvency-related litigation
  • Director exposure matters including insolvent trading risk and ATO Director Penalty Notices
  • Recovery work, including creditor/liquidator recovery actions and debt recovery in a liquidation context

Key Requirements:

  • Australian practising certificate
  • 3–6 years’ PQE in commercial insolvency, restructuring and/or insolvency litigation
  • Confidence drafting court documents, advices and correspondence under time pressure
  • Strong understanding of Corporations Act and insolvency processes (appointments, winding up, recoveries)
  • A practical, client-first approach and the ability to run matters with appropriate supervision

On Offer:

Our client offers a role that balances autonomy with support—ideal for a lawyer who wants to sharpen their insolvency skillset while building trusted client relationships.

  • High-quality, hands-on insolvency work across a broad range of restructuring pathways
  • A team environment that values straightforward advice and cost-effective outcomes
  • Genuine client contact and the chance to become a go-to advisor for directors, shareholders and creditors
  • Long-term growth in a practice with strong capability across insolvency and broader commercial services
