About the role

  • Account Director – Public Relations
  • Good Talent Media is looking for an exceptional

Account Director to join our team.

You might already be an experienced Account Director looking for a fresh opportunity, or a talented Senior Account Manager who's ready to take the next step.

We're looking for someone with outstanding media instincts, excellent journalist contacts and the ability to turn a client brief into a compelling news story β€” fast.

Someone who can spot an angle immediately, knows what makes news and isn't afraid to pick up the phone to a journalist.

If you're quick on your feet, creative and love making news happen, we'd like to meet you.

Why join Good Talent Media?

GTM was founded 11 years ago by a former journalist who believed PR agencies needed to think more like newsrooms.

We've built an agency around experienced media professionals who understand what makes news, how journalists think and how to tell stories that cut through.

Today, we work with organisations across Australia, including some of the country's leading not-for-profits and purpose-driven businesses.

We help clients build their visibility, credibility and influence through great storytelling, strong media relationships and strategic communications.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Work from home four days a week, based in Melbourne or Sydney
  • A small, collaborative team with direct access to agency leadership
  • Interesting clients and stories across diverse industries
  • Professional development and industry conference opportunities
  • Genuine autonomy and responsibility for your accounts
  • Opportunities for career progression and leadership
  • Performance incentives linked to client retention and growth

About the role

You'll take ownership of a portfolio of clients, developing proactive PR strategies, identifying newsworthy stories and delivering outstanding earned media outcomes.

This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can think strategically, move quickly and build strong relationships with clients and journalists.

We're particularly interested in someone who can take a brief, quickly identify the strongest media angles and turn those ideas into coverage.

You'll need to be comfortable switching between clients, industries and issues, often developing strong news angles at short notice.

We want someone who can think like a journalist, lead like an Account Director and consistently deliver great results for clients.

  • What you'll be doing
  • Media relations and storytelling
  • Identify compelling news angles from client briefs, often at speed.
  • Develop proactive stories and campaigns that attract media attention.
  • Pitch directly to journalists, producers and editors across national, metropolitan, regional and specialist media.
  • Bring established media relationships across diverse sectors.
  • Write sharp media pitches, releases, opinion pieces and communications materials.
  • Respond quickly to breaking news and emerging opportunities.
  • Consistently bring fresh ideas to clients rather than waiting for instructions.
  • Who we're looking for

We're interested in an experienced Account Director or an outstanding Senior Account Manager ready for greater responsibility.

You’ll bring

  • Strong PR agency experience managing clients and campaigns.
  • Excellent media contacts across a broad range of sectors.
  • Sharp news judgement and the ability to develop compelling angles quickly.
  • A proven track record of securing earned media coverage.
  • Excellent writing, pitching and communication skills.
  • Strong client relationship management experience.
  • Strategic thinking and an understanding of clients' broader business objectives.
  • The ability to manage multiple accounts and competing deadlines.
  • A proactive, resourceful and solutions-focused attitude.
  • Experience mentoring junior colleagues, or the ambition to develop these skills.

Newsroom experience is highly regarded, but proven PR agency experience and strong media results are equally valuable.

Applicants must have unrestricted Australian working rights.

Most importantly, you're someone who makes things happen β€” for your clients and for the business.

Good Talent Media β€” Visibility. Growth. Influence.
