A well-established, large, privately owned small animal practice in Melbourne’s western suburbs is seeking an experienced veterinarian to join its friendly, supportive, and highly skilled team. This position offers an outstanding opportunity to further develop clinical, surgical, and diagnostic skills within a busy practice that manages a high and varied caseload.

The veterinary team includes multiple clinicians with advanced skills, supported by an excellent nursing and support team, allowing cases to be worked up thoroughly and collaboratively. The practice is exceptionally well equipped, providing access to advanced diagnostics and treatment options rarely available in private primary care. Facilities include:

  • Digital radiography
  • A full in-house pathology suite
  • High-end ultrasound
  • Endoscopy
  • Laparoscopy
  • CT scanning
  • Dental suites
  • Multiple consulting rooms
  • Dedicated operating theatres

Visiting surgical and medical specialists are available, along with in-house expertise in small animal reproduction. Continuing education and the pursuit of special interests are strongly encouraged. The role includes access to VIN, BSAVA resources, Plumb’s, the Sydney University CVE Hub, and an annual continuing education allowance. There are no sole-charge or on-call requirements.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a busy small animal environment and enjoy working as part of a collaborative veterinary team. Key requirements include:

  • High clinical and ethical standards
  • Confidence working in a fast-paced practice
  • A strong interest in diagnostically working up complex cases
  • A commitment to clinical excellence
  • Willingness to mentor and support new graduate veterinarians
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • The ability to build and maintain excellent client relationships

The practice is located close to Melbourne’s CBD and within easy reach of the Bellarine Peninsula and Great Ocean Road. The area offers affordable housing, excellent public transport links, and a family-friendly lifestyle. Salary and hours are negotiable. An attractive remuneration package is offered, including a competitive base salary plus a guaranteed percentage of revenue generated to ensure pay fairness.
