George Gray Centre is looking for an organised, approachable and hands-on HR Operations Officer to join our Business Team. This is a new role and a great opportunity for someone who enjoys making HR work well in practice. You’ll coordinate our day-to-day people processes, support managers and employees, and help us continue building consistent, practical HR systems across the organisation. From recruitment and onboarding through to employee records, training, compliance and workplace health and safety, you’ll be an important point of contact for our team.
What you’ll be doing:
- Coordinating recruitment, interviews, onboarding and employee documentation
- Maintaining employee records, HR systems and compliance registers
- Supporting probation, performance review, leave and employment-change processes
- Helping managers navigate routine HR processes and documentation
- Coordinating training, professional development and compliance requirements
- Supporting employee engagement, recognition and wellbeing initiatives
- Coordinating day-to-day OH&S administration, including registers, inspections and follow-up actions
- Keeping our HR templates, processes and systems practical, consistent and up to date
About you:
You might already be working in HR, people and culture, HR administration or business administration and be ready for a role where you can take greater ownership. We’re looking for someone who is:
- Organised, proactive and comfortable managing competing priorities
- Approachable and confident working with employees and managers
- Discreet and professional when dealing with confidential information
- Detail-focused and comfortable managing records, systems and documentation
- Practical and solutions-focused
- Confident using Microsoft Office and learning HR systems
- Interested in helping create a positive, safe and well-organised workplace
A qualification in human resources, business administration, workplace relations or a related area would be highly regarded, although equivalent experience is also welcomed. Experience in community services, disability or the not-for-profit sector would be an advantage, but isn’t essential.
Why join GGC?
This isn't a role where you're stepping into a huge corporate HR department. You'll have the opportunity to help shape how our internal HR function works, build better systems and make the employee experience simpler and more consistent. You'll be joining a locally based organisation with strong community roots, where the work you do behind the scenes supports the people delivering services every day.
