Hey you!
At genU, we know in Tasmania that community matters. Relationships are genuine, connections run deep, and the difference you make is often felt close to home. As we continue to grow our disability services across the state, we're creating more opportunities for Tasmanians with disability to live independently, stay connected to the people and places that matter most, and achieve their goals.
To help make that happen, we are looking for a Vacancy & Engagement Coordinator who is passionate about people, relationships and making a difference locally.
This role offers a rare combination: the chance to work closely with Tasmanians, families and community partners while being supported by a national organisation with the scale, expertise and career pathways to help you grow.
If you are looking for a role where you can create real impact today and build a long-term career tomorrow, we would love to hear from you.
Across the State, you will help connect Tasmanians with disability to the housing and support that enables them to live the life they choose. Working across Supported Independent Living (SIL), Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) and other housing options, you will guide individuals and families from first enquiry through to move-in.
What you’ll do
As a Vacancy & Engagement Coordinator, you’ll:
- Coordinate and manage SIL and SDA vacancies across genU’s accommodation portfolio
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of referrals through engagement with support coordinators, families and key stakeholders
- Support clients and families from initial enquiry through to onboarding and move-in
- Provide guidance on NDIS funding, including supporting applications and liaising with planners and stakeholders
- Promote genU’s housing and service offerings through relationship management, events and community engagement
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure compatibility, safety and positive outcomes for residents
What you’ll bring
- Qualification in human services (e.g. Certificate III in Individual Support or similar)
- Experience in administration or coordination within disability, aged care or community services
- Strong knowledge of SIL, SDA and NDIS funding pathways
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Confidence working with a range of stakeholders including clients, families and external partners
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach
(You’ll also need an NDIS Worker Screening Check and Orientation Module Certificate – but don’t worry, we’ll help guide you through this.)
Why you’ll love working at genU
At genU, our differences make us stronger. We celebrate all kinds of diversity and the unique perspectives each of us brings. We’re committed to creating a welcoming, safe, and respectful space where everyone feels valued and can thrive.
You’ll also get

- University Study Discount – enjoy a 25% fee reduction for undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Torrens University
