Lead one of Victoria’s most historic and respected golf clubs. Drive strategic growth, governance and long-term sustainability. Deliver exceptional member value while honouring a proud heritage.
The Position
Riversdale Golf Club is seeking an accomplished and values-led executive to become its next Chief Executive Officer. Reporting to the Board and working closely with the President, the CEO will provide strategic leadership to one of Victoria’s most respected and historic golf clubs. At an important point in the Club’s evolution, the successful candidate will build on a proud legacy while positioning Riversdale for long-term sustainability, relevance and growth, ensuring exceptional outcomes for members, employees and stakeholders.
As the Board’s principal executive adviser, the CEO will lead organisational performance across all aspects of the Club, including strategy execution, financial stewardship, governance, people and culture, member experience, hospitality, golf operations, facilities and future capital investment. The role will drive alignment between the Club’s strategic ambitions and day-to-day operations, ensuring strong organisational capability, commercial discipline and accountable decision-making while preserving the heritage, culture and values that have underpinned Riversdale’s success for more than 130 years.
The successful candidate will be a commercially astute and highly credible executive with experience leading a complex service-oriented or member-based organisation. They will bring demonstrated capability in strategic leadership, governance, stakeholder engagement, financial management and organisational development, together with the ability to lead change, build high-performing teams and foster trusted relationships with Boards and members. Experience within the club, hospitality, sporting or related sectors will be valued, although strong alignment with Riversdale’s community-focused ethos is equally important.
The Organisation
Riversdale Golf Club is one of Victoria’s most historic and respected golf clubs and proudly traces its origins to 1892. Located in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, Riversdale is recognised for its rich heritage, strong membership culture and highly regarded championship golf course originally shaped by renowned course architect Alex Russell. Today, the Club continues to enjoy a strong position within the market, supported by a loyal membership base, sound financial performance and a commitment to preserving the traditions and values that have defined the organisation for generations.
Beyond golf, Riversdale offers a vibrant community experience through exceptional clubhouse facilities, dining, events, corporate functions and hospitality offerings. Significant investment in recent years has strengthened the Club’s position as a destination for members and guests alike, while planned capital works will further enhance its facilities and long-term sustainability.
