Service Engineer / Industrial Electrician | Scoresby VIC

An opportunity is available for an experienced Industrial Electrician or Service Technician to join an established business specialising in packaging and inspection machinery. Based in Scoresby, this position offers a competitive salary package, exposure to advanced equipment and the opportunity to develop your technical skills while working with customers across Australia.

Who you will be working with

Our client is an established supplier of automated packaging and inspection equipment, supporting major manufacturers across the food production industry.

Working with a specialist service team, you'll be responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining and troubleshooting machinery at customer sites. The equipment primarily consists of end‑of‑line packaging systems, inspection equipment and occasional carton handling machinery.

This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who enjoys problem‑solving, working independently and taking ownership of both electrical and mechanical faults.

Benefits to the successful applicant

  • Work with specialised packaging and inspection machinery across major manufacturing sites.
  • Opportunities for technical development, additional training and career progression.
  • Variety of work including installation, commissioning, breakdowns and preventative maintenance.
  • Interstate travel with flights and accommodation organised, including travel home on weekends during longer assignments.
  • Join an established service team with plans to expand and reduce individual travel requirements.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Diagnose and rectify electrical, electronic and mechanical faults across automated packaging and inspection equipment.
  • Install and commission new machinery, ensuring equipment operates to required performance standards.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, equipment inspections and repairs to minimise customer downtime.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers on machine operation, troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Investigate recurring equipment issues and recommend improvements to machinery reliability and performance.
  • Maintain accurate service reports and build strong working relationships with customers and internal teams.

We are looking for someone with

  • A recognised electrical trade qualification and current Victorian Electrical Licence.
  • Experience servicing, maintaining or fault‑finding on industrial machinery, ideally within packaging, food manufacturing or automated production environments.
  • Strong electrical fault‑finding skills, including electronic control systems, PCBs and HMI interfaces.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose and repair both electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently at customer sites.
  • Willingness to travel interstate, including overnight stays and occasional weekend requirements.

Travel requirements

This position involves regular interstate travel, typically for 2–3 nights at a time, with some assignments extending up to 5 nights. Longer assignments may extend to 10 days, with travel home arranged on weekends.
