FIA supports and represents fundraising professionals and organisations through education, advocacy, professional standards, member engagement and sector leadership.

About the role

Put your events expertise to work for a sector that creates real impact.

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced events professional to join FIA as our Senior Events Coordinator.

This role is ideal for someone who has developed strong end-to-end event delivery experience and is ready to take greater ownership.

You'll manage an allocated portfolio of FIA events from planning through to post-event evaluation, while also taking responsibility for key components of FIA's Conference and Awards.

You'll work with a wide range of stakeholders, volunteers, venues and suppliers, manage competing event priorities and use your experience and judgement to keep delivery on track.

Key responsibilities

  • Take day-to-day ownership of an allocated portfolio of FIA events from planning through to post-event evaluation.
  • Develop event delivery plans, schedules and timelines and manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Act as the principal operational contact for relevant event stakeholders.
  • Manage venue and supplier relationships and coordinate agreed event requirements.
  • Manage event registrations, attendee communications and logistical arrangements.
  • Monitor event income and expenditure and complete financial reconciliation.
  • Resolve operational issues and identify and elevate significant delivery risks.
  • Evaluate event performance and attendee feedback and recommend improvements.
  • Take responsibility for assigned components of FIA's Conference and Awards, including logistics and onsite delivery.
  • Share event knowledge and contribute to improvements in event systems and processes.

About you

  • At least 5 years' relevant experience in event coordination or delivery, including experience taking independent responsibility for events from planning through to evaluation.
  • Has strong end-to-end event delivery experience across in-person and online events.
  • Is confident taking ownership and driving multiple events and activities through to completion.
  • Builds strong relationships with stakeholders, venues, suppliers and delivery partners.
  • Understands event budgets and can monitor expenditure and complete financial reconciliation.
  • Is highly organised and comfortable managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in delivering professional event experiences.
  • Is confident using event registration platforms, CRM systems and other digital tools.
  • Uses sound judgement to resolve operational issues independently and knows when escalation is required.
  • Communicates confidently and professionally with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Enjoys sharing knowledge and identifying better ways of working.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Swoogo or similar event registration platforms, or experience within a membership, not-for-profit or purpose-led organisation, would be an advantage but isn’t essential.
  • Full Australian working rights with no restrictions are required.

What does success look like in this role?

You’ll know you’re succeeding when your portfolio of events is well planned and delivered to agreed timelines and budgets, with risks identified and addressed early.

Stakeholders, attendees, venues and suppliers receive professional and responsive support, event information and financial records are accurate, and you use feedback and your experience to continually improve event delivery.

You’ll also be a trusted and experienced member of the Conference and Events team, confidently taking ownership of your work while sharing knowledge and supporting consistent event delivery across FIA.

Competitive salary and benefits, including flexible working with WFH Monday and Friday.

Modern St Leonards office with exceptional public transport access, located directly opposite the train station and surrounded by cafés, restaurants and everyday amenities.

Be part of a friendly, collaborative and purpose-led team dedicated to making a positive impact across the fundraising sector.

Personal development and training opportunities to continue building your skills and credentials.

If you’re an experienced events professional ready to take greater ownership, broaden your event portfolio and play a key role in delivering events across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, we’d love to hear from you.
