Step out of practice and take ownership of corporate tax for a well-established Perth-based group with operations across Australia and New Zealand.
Ready to swap timesheets and client billing for true ownership? This is your chance to become the go-to tax expert for a well-established, member-owned organisation with operations across Australia and New Zealand, and to see the impact of your work on the business every single day.
About the Opportunity
Our client is a respected Perth-headquartered group with a strong purpose, a values-driven culture and a finance team that genuinely collaborates. Reporting to the Corporate Finance Manager, you'll own the Group's core tax function while also broadening your skills across statutory reporting, month-end and management accounting. It's the ideal role for a tax professional from public practice who wants a genuine step into commerce, or someone who has already made that move and wants a role with real breadth.
What You'll Be Doing
- Preparing income tax returns for Australian and New Zealand entities
- Managing GST and FBT compliance across both jurisdictions and keeping the business ahead of legislative change
- Owning the Group's tax effect accounting calculations and disclosures for half-year and year-end reporting
- Leading Division 7A analysis and transfer pricing documentation
- Preparing statutory accounts, APRA returns, ABS surveys and other regulatory lodgements
- Driving end-of-month processes, reconciliations and management reporting
- Writing technical accounting position papers and playing a key role in the audit process
- Challenging the status quo to improve systems, processes and controls
What You'll Bring
- CA or CPA qualification with a degree in Commerce, Accounting or Finance
- Corporate tax experience gained in Big 4 or mid-tier public practice, ideally at Senior, Assistant Manager or Manager level
- Commercial experience within a company would be a real bonus
- Solid technical knowledge of income tax, deferred tax, financial statement disclosures, BAS and FBT
- Strong accounting fundamentals and advanced Excel skills, with ERP experience
- Exposure to New Zealand tax is advantageous but not essential
- A hands-on, proactive approach and the confidence to engage with stakeholders across the business
Why You'll Love It
- Hybrid working environment that gives you genuine flexibility to balance work and life
- Real ownership of a broad, varied tax and accounting portfolio
- A member-owned organisation with a clear purpose and strong values
- A collaborative finance team where your expertise is valued and visible
- The ideal next step for building a long-term commercial career
