A leading infrastructure developer is looking to appoint a Senior Associate to join its project finance team, supporting the evaluation, structuring and execution of major development and infrastructure projects.
This is an opportunity for someone with a background in project finance from a banking environment or infrastructure advisory/consulting, who brings strong financial modelling capabilities and experience assessing complex project financing structures.
The Opportunity
Working closely with senior finance and investment stakeholders, you will play an important role in the financial evaluation and funding of a portfolio of major development projects.
The position will involve financial modelling, funding strategy, capital structuring and transaction execution, requiring someone who can combine strong technical modelling skills with a commercial understanding of project finance.
You will have exposure to projects throughout their lifecycle, from initial feasibility and investment assessment through to financing, financial close and ongoing management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project finance and financial models to assess project feasibility, returns, funding requirements and investment outcomes.
- Evaluate and structure financing solutions across a range of development and infrastructure projects.
- Undertake debt sizing, cash flow analysis, sensitivity analysis and scenario modelling.
- Assess key financing metrics, including gearing, debt service coverage ratios, loan life coverage ratios and project returns.
- Support funding strategy, including debt and equity structuring and engagement with potential funding partners.
- Coordinate and support financing transactions, including lender engagement, due diligence, documentation and financial close.
- Prepare financial analysis, investment papers and recommendations for senior management and investment committees.
- Work closely with internal development, investment, legal and commercial teams to assess project risks and optimise capital structures.
- Monitor project financial performance, funding requirements and compliance with financing arrangements.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience within a project finance team at a domestic or international bank, or within an infrastructure advisory or consulting firm.
- Strong financial modelling skills, with experience building and maintaining complex project finance models.
- Exposure to infrastructure, property, energy or other capital-intensive development projects.
- Strong understanding of project finance structures, debt sizing, cash flow waterfalls and financing metrics.
- Experience supporting financing transactions, financial due diligence and capital structuring.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate complex financial analysis into commercial recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
This role would suit a technically strong project finance professional looking to take the next step in their career and gain greater exposure to the commercial and investment decisions behind major development projects.
