This role offers the opportunity to step into investing from a top-tier consulting, investment banking, or principal investing background and work with a high-performing Australian mid-market private equity firm focused on majority growth equity investments across ANZ.

The firm has built a strong track record partnering with founder-led and management-owned businesses, backing profitable companies with clear growth runways. Its investment approach is hands-on and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on strategy, operational improvement, and long-term value creation rather than financial engineering. With strong fund momentum and an active pipeline, the team is expanding its investment team.

The role

As an Investment Associate, you will work closely with senior investors and portfolio company management teams on both new investments and existing portfolio businesses. Responsibilities include:

  • Building and reviewing financial and operating models to assess growth strategies and investment scenarios
  • Supporting commercial, market and strategic due diligence
  • Developing investment theses, market assessments and IC materials
  • Working with management teams on growth initiatives, strategic priorities and value creation plans
  • Monitoring portfolio performance and supporting board-level analysis
  • Conducting sector research to identify attractive investment themes

About you

This role is well suited to candidates with:

  • 2-4 years' experience in consulting (MBB preferred), Investment Banking, or private equity/venture capital
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an investor mindset
  • Experience assessing growth strategies, markets and competitive dynamics
  • Commercial judgement and the ability to synthesise complex information clearly
  • Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with senior stakeholders
  • A clear interest in moving into an investing role and working closely with business leaders

Prior transaction experience is helpful but not essential. Intellectual curiosity, ownership and judgement matter more.

The opportunity

  • Majority growth equity focus with deep involvement in strategy and value creation
  • Lean team with close partner exposure
  • Hands-on work with management teams and boards
  • Competitive remuneration with long-term upside
