Contract Administrator

Contract Administrator

On-site
F

Our client is an established, privately owned commercial builder with more than 25 years in the market and a strong reputation for delivering technically varied projects across Sydney and regional NSW.

Their work spans new commercial buildings, major refurbishments, heritage restoration and adaptive reuse, education, medical, public domain, interior fit-out and civil works. Projects can involve everything from concrete structures and structural steel through to complex refurbishments, services upgrades and high-end finishes.

They are particularly experienced in delivering construction within live and sensitive environments including schools, universities, government facilities, medical environments and operational public buildings - where planning, communication and attention to detail genuinely matter.

With a significant proportion of work coming from repeat clients, this is a business built around long‑term relationships, quality delivery and doing the job properly.

They are now looking for an experienced Contracts Administrator to join the Sydney team and work across a diverse pipeline of commercial construction projects.

About the Opportunity

This is a great role for a CA who enjoys the commercial side of construction but also wants to understand how projects are actually built.

You won't be working on the same type of project repeatedly. One project may involve a technically complex refurbishment within an operational building; the next could involve a new commercial structure, heritage works, structural modifications or a government or education project.

The business has an experienced, stable management team and its Directors remain actively involved across projects from tender through to completion, giving you good access to senior decision-makers rather than layers of management.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and managing subcontractor and supplier procurement packages
  • Developing scopes of work and issuing trade tenders
  • Reviewing and negotiating subcontractor quotations
  • Preparing subcontract agreements and managing contractual documentation
  • Assessing progress claims and subcontractor variations
  • Preparing and managing client variations and supporting documentation
  • Maintaining project budgets, forecasts and cost reports
  • Tracking committed costs and identifying commercial risks early
  • Managing RFIs, consultant information and contract correspondence
  • Supporting Project Managers with project reporting and commercial decision‑making
  • Working closely with site teams to understand programme, sequencing and procurement requirements
  • Assisting with project close‑out, final accounts and subcontractor reconciliation

About You

You will already have solid Contracts Administration experience with a commercial head contractor and be comfortable managing the commercial requirements of a project with a good level of independence.

You will enjoy understanding drawings, methodology, structure and buildability and be comfortable working across projects that may involve concrete, structural steel, major refurbishment, heritage interfaces, building services and live operational environments.

A construction‑related degree or qualification will be highly regarded, but practical commercial building experience and the ability to take ownership will matter most.

Why Join?

  • This is the kind of business where you can build genuine depth as a construction professional.
  • Work across a genuinely diverse mix of commercial construction projects
  • Gain exposure to new build, structural refurbishment, heritage and fit‑out
  • Learn from an experienced and stable senior management team
  • Join an award‑winning builder with a long‑standing market reputation
  • Work with government, education, institutional and private‑sector clients
  • Be part of a business where repeat clients account for the majority of work
  • Develop broader technical and commercial capability rather than being pigeonholed into one sector
  • Join a collaborative team where quality and long‑term relationships genuinely matter

The business has an established track record delivering complex projects including structural steel and concrete construction, major refurbishments, heritage works and projects within fully operational environments. Recent examples include school projects incorporating concrete substructures and structural steel, structural modifications within existing buildings, and full refurbishments incorporating demolition, concrete, steel and services upgrades.

Salary up to $150K + super, depending on experience.
